International Turtle and Tortoise Week
Zoo Med Laboratories of San Luis Obispo, California since 1977 tells us that this week starting April 19th is International Turtle and Tortoise Week. They should know since they raise so many in San Luis Obispo. They are noted for their 100% USA-made terrariums. They are offering free materials and Instagram videos to educators to teach kids and groups about turtles and tortoises all week. You can check out their info here: https://zoomed.com/
Summer Heat Tips for our Pets
On another note it is time to prepare our pet friends for the upcoming summer heat according to The Bark Magazine (https://thebark.com). They have a great article in a recent issue on dogs in this regard and signs of over-heating to watch for. They note that heavy saliva, intense breathing, and bright red tongues may be signs of over-heating. Be sure to have cool water handy. You might also consider protecting their paws if out on hot tarmac areas (aside from pet shoes there is a special coating you can get to protect their paws at your retail pet store). And always have their water bowl full. Also, K&H Products (https://khpet.com) is a USA-made manufacturer that offers cooling beds for both cats and dogs.
